High Street Buys: Shoes { ZARA }

Purchased 2 pairs of shoes from Zara a few weeks ago but never got round to showing them until now.

Leaving Zara empty-handed is a rarity for me. But for some reason, I've never really gravitated towards their shoes. However, I chanced upon these shoes during a sneaky browse through their online shop the other day. Of course, my fingers have a mind of their own and before I knew it, I had all too eagerly keyed in my payment details and checked out. Oops.. Though the price tags on these shoes did make me feel slightly less guilty..

I still haven't quite managed the mammoth task of wearing heels without tripping in the span of approximately 5 minutes. So since both pairs of shoes have a chunky heel instead of a stick thin one, I figured I wouldn't be a walking hazard in them. At least its a baby step in the right direction! (and I probably won't end up on my butt while taking that step.. hah!)

"These boots were made for walking.."

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the link for this pair on Zara's website anymore. If you're interested, you may want to try heading down to one of their stores to try your luck!

Happy shopping!

Visuals: Glam Leather Look

Just a quick look I put together comprimising pieces I currently have my eye on and pieces that I already own / have something similar to.

Got the leather joggers from Topshop last week. One glance at me and you probably wouldn't place me as the leather joggers wearing sort. Well, you would be wrong. I can't wait to dress it up and wear it on a night out, but for now, I shall do so on a mood board.

To go with the leather joggers, I went with a leather crop top from Topshop (I've been loving their collections lately). If the weather in your part of the world is anything close to the UK's, I would definitely recommend throwing on a fur jacket. Not only does the trick of keeping you warm, (faux) fur always adds an extra layer of glam to any look. For shoes, strappy heels would be suitable for a night out and will help balance out the looser fit of the leather joggers & enhance your legs for days!

Fur jacket: Unreal Fur // Top: Topshop // Leather joggers: Topshop // Heels: Zara // Bag: Christian Louboutin // Bracelets: Eddie Borgo Cone bracelet + Hermes Double Rivale

My buys: Isabel Marant pour H&M

Last Thursday, I traipsed down to my local H&M in the hopes of scoring a few pieces from the highly anticipated Isabel Marant pour H&M collection.

This was my first time actually bothering to attend a H&M designer collaboration on the day of its launch. I arrived at 8.40a.m, naively thinking I was early. Of course I soon found out that other people were way ahead of the game, having camped outside the store in the wee hours of the morning.

For the record, If you ever want to find a bunch of grown women regressing into mean girls in high school, just head down to an exclusive H&M designer collaboration opening day.
It was quite the experience to say the least. 90% of the experience was watching women charge like a herd of cattle towards the racks. Billboards were toppled over, rude remarks were hurled.. (e.g. "I want to spit on you".. no kidding). Its no wonder H&M had to assemble a whole security team in the form of big burly men to standby on the sidelines of this "warzone".
I would be lying if I didn't admit that the thought of turning into one of them crossed my mind a few times upon finding myself shoving as many items as I could into the depths of my shopping bag whilst fending off middle-aged women from getting all the UK size 6's. You get the picture..

Even though I didn't manage to bag the more coveted pieces from the collection (beaded jacket *ahem* tasseled boots *ahem*), I'm still quite pleased with what I managed to lay my hands on.

To me, Isabel Marant encapsulates a hybrid of the effortless Parisian boho vibe mixed with a rock n' roll edge. I think this was well embodied in this collection, with most pieces seeming to belong in an off-duty model's closet.

I actually got these shorts from the kids' collection. I must admit, the sizes ran slightly big so I found myself being able to fit into most of the kids clothes (although some of the kids sizes were far too big for me as well).

This was a welcome addition due to the imbalanced ratio of gold to silver accessories in my collection.

Out of all the pieces I managed to score, my favorite would probably have to be a tie between the most understated piece of the lot (the white sheer sweater) and the shorts from the kids' range.

Which was YOUR favorite piece? & did you manage to get your hands on anything from the collection as well?

OOTD: Comfy knits!

Back with a "what I wore today to brave the typical English weather" in the form of a good ol' fitting room selfie. Having lived in a tropical climate all my life, I still haven't quite acclimatized to the English (single-digit) weather even after being here for over 2 years. Even when the weather seems to permit other people merely to don a light-weight sweater, I'm THAT person all bundled up in a full on winter jacket & my trusty Uggs - sticking out like a sore thumb big fluffy marshmallow in a cup of tea..

Surprisingly, even with no sign of the English weather being any kinder, I managed to step out of the house with just this cardigan instead of my usual winter jacket (but I just couldn't lose the uggs..). I must say, I didn't expect it to keep me quite as warm as it did!

This knit cardy is from Topshop. I do like my (faux) fur so naturally, I found myself gravitating towards it when I spotted this patch of furriness hanging on the rack. Got my blue sweater from Asos to add a hint of color to break up the black on black on black theme, paired with disco pants from American Apparel. People have told me they resemble leggings/tights. Being an advocate of the "anti leggings-as-pants" cause, I take great offense to this.. Anyways, its called disco PANTS for a reason so don't argue with the name. Adding to the comfort level of this ensemble are my go-to shoes this season - my trusty bailey bow UGGs! I'm sure even the UGG haters will have to agree that the cute little satin bows do much to tone down the UGGly level.

I wore:
Fur sweater - Topshop
Knit jumper - ASOS
Disco pants - American Apparel
Bag - Prada Mini
Earrings - Chanel
Ring - Alexander McQueen
Shoes - UGGs
