+44 >> +65

Countdown to getting out of here!
The end of the semester is drawing to a close and it cannot come any faster.
Impatient for it to end.

Can't wait to go on a food rampage, reclaim my summer wardrobe, & embrace the warmth!

Back to the +65 soon.

Just some random quotes from K-dramas I've watched recently.

Saturday Night.

Admist all the coursework & due dates that are looming over me, a short breather was in order.
Went to the japanese restaurant I frequent for sashimi & yakitori.

Salmon sashimi.
Looks somewhat miserable all by itself but it was good.
Didn't manage to take a pic of my yakitori - same old excuse of digging in before remembering to take one.
Made sure I was really full so I wouldn't go crazy in the junk food aisle at the supermarket after. Starting to pay more attention to my diet. Not really for any weight loss reasons, more for the sake of being health conscious.

Tonight was a quick distraction from all the stress but it definitely helped!
The shitty cold weather probably helped in "waking" me up as well.

On another note, I can't wait to be rid of the bulk of my assignments & finally head back to SG for Easter break. To be quite frank, I've felt rather disconnected at times this semester.. Definitely need good food, good weather, etc, as a refresher!
Planning to utilize the easter break to post more content on this blog as well.

A I R M A X.

New kicks.

I seem to be in a sneaker phase right now. Bought 4 pairs of sneakers in the span of just over a month.
If you've read previous entries, you'll know a recent purchase were my Marants. However, whilst they're comfy, I wanted a more casual pair of trainers - sans a wedge.

True to its name, the cushioning on these Air Max's has the comfort level of one walking on air.
The red & black color combi is striking, yet not too loud as well.

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy shoes, & that's kind of the same thing" - even if they're just trainers.

Food Coma.

Made a rather hasty day trip to London to attend the bar (in the legal sense) fair.
Being back in London always make me miss my year of living there. Weather was perfect, shopping was successful, & the food was worth every bit of extra weight I probably piled on.

Had lunch at Dinings restaurant after a friend recommended it.
With the various tapas dishes on the menu, this place is especially apt if you're dining in a rather big group as you can share.

Tar tar chips {Seared Wagyu beef w chilli miso + "Toro" fatty tuna w wasabi-jalapeño}

Sea bass carpaccio with truffles & ponzu jelly.

Ordered sushi & a main course for myself too.
Uni w quails egg + Ikura. Everything was really fresh!

My main course - Char grilled Wagyu beef steak donburi.
Wagyu beef was good but overall, this dish tasted similar to a dish served in a Chinese restaurant.. I still remain steadfastly loyal to Fat Cow's wagyu donburi.

Soft shell crab roll that some of my friends had.
This is 2 orders. It had mixed reviews from my friends. Didn't try it so can't really comment.. Does look good though!

Wagyu beef bun.

Anne's main course - Fresh water eel & foie gras donburi. According to her, the unagi & foie gras wasn't a good combination. Again, I'm sure Fat Cow's version is better.

DESSERT.. was a definite win! Tried both the creme brûlée with matcha ice-cream + truffle ice-cream
My favorite was the creme brûlée. Who knew creme brûlée & matcha ice-cream would compliment each other & make such a perfect pairing?

We racked up a bill of £200+. For a party of 5 people, & taking the quality of the food into consideration, I think it was worth the indulgence!
Definitely returning the next time I go to London to sample more of the tapas dishes, sushi & dessert!

After shopping, hopped in a cab to Shoryu (Regent St. branch). Realized we had minimal time to enjoy the ramen we had been yearning for as we were rushing to catch the last train back to Mcr. Thus, when we were greeted by a line, our hearts immediately sank. Still, we knew we couldn't pass ramen up & waited in line. Thankfully, we managed to get a table after 15 minutes or so! Service was really efficient.
My ramen + had matcha latte as well. Still prefer Ippudo in SG. But after being in MCR which lacks authentic ramen, Shoryu was heaven to me. No complaints here.
