I love PHO! + Hokkaido Food Fair

Today was yet another mini-"adventure" with my mom. We decided it was time to visit the Hokkaido Food Fair at Isetan Shaw Centre to indulge! Our family used to go to Japan almost every year since 2006. I guess you could say we had, and still have, a mini love affair with Japan - Hokkaido in particular. Unfortunately we haven't visited since 2010 (a pretty long time for us Japan loving people), due to our clashing schedules and the fact that I'm studying abroad half the time.
Also, I've been going through an anything-Japanese-food phase lately. So when I was randomly browsing the net and chanced upon Isetan's Facebook post that they would be holding a Hokkaido fair, you can imagine my excitement!

Didn't really take too many pictures though.. Sorry, I'm still trying to get used to the whole taking-pictures-for-my-blog thing.. Was just too enthralled by all the food surrounding me!

The Hokkaido food fair reminded me of a typical supermarket in Japan - especially the fact that they let you try some of the food (the best part)!

ORANGE GOODNESS ~ IKURAAAA

Green tea (matcha) gelato!
My favorite ice cream flavor just in case anyone out there wants to buy more for me ;)
ps/. if you happen to be in Ion and see unexplainable green drops on the floor.. GULTY.. heheh

Supermarket shopping (asian) swag ft. my go-to pose :-P
I look kinda "auntie" with the Isetan plastic bag resting in the nook of my arm omg.. hahah

Goryokaku don ~
This cost $25. Before you frown at the price tag for a seemingly small bowl of rice, please take into consideration all the mouth-watering-good-quality-amazingness (no better way to describe it tbh) that is included in the $25 price tag - Uni, scallop/hotate sashimi and hokkaido crabmeat!
Literally bolted towards the counter when I saw this on display from a distance. The auntie and japanese chef at the booth probably both thought I hadn't eaten in days....

Bought cheesecake from the Hokkaido fair as well but that got devoured up all too quickly - proof that it was THAT yummy!

I keep thinking about the grilled scallops and big fat juicy prawns I saw but didn't get, so I'm definitely going to be paying the Hokkaido fair another visit before it closes to stop all those torturous cravings.

Before heading to the Hokkaido food fair, we had lunch at Nam Nam Noodle Bar, Wheelock Place. Have been wanting to go there since I was back in the UK after hearing all the great reviews. The set lunch we ordered included included a piping hot bowl of (beef) pho and fresh southern spring rolls w/ shrimp. Priced at $9, it's definitely reasonable! Not sure whether hearing everybody rave made me think it was good, whether the wait made it tastier, or whether it was just plain nice. Either way, I really enjoyed it! Apparently, unlike many other food joints, they claim that they don't use MSG in their food.  Nam nam noodle bar will definitely be seeing more of this face, especially cos I won't have to worry about my hair falling out after eating it!

Photastic, pho sho! (sorry, just couldn't resist.. twice)

Of course, not forgetting my OOTD (Outfit of the day) :) ~
Clearly I was feeling orange today.
Top: KON (Thai label)
Shorts: KON
Ring: Lucien elements, Angelica ring (rose gold)

Really love full set outfits and was so happy to find this from KON on my previous trip to BKK! Going back to BKK again in about a month's time and thinking of doing a post on my favorite Thai designers/labels when I do. For the most part, they definitely don't hurt you wallet as much as the standard western designer label. At the same time, I do think Thai designers could easily rival their Western counterparts!

Do you guys have any favorite designers/labels that you feel don't get enough credit and recognition? Please do share!

xx
